Keep Free Parking at Arundel Avenue

Local residents have reacted with outrage following the news that Liberal Democrat-run Stockport Council are proposing to introduce charging at Arundel Avenue car park. At a time when residents in Stockport are paying the highest Council Tax in Greater Manchester, charging residents to use one of the last remaining free car parks in our area is not only insulting but bad for local businesses.

Oliver Johnstone and your local Conservative team are committed to opposing these plans. They are asking anyone who wants to keep free parking at Arundel Avenue to sign the petition below and make their voice heard.

Oliver said, "Last year the Liberal Democrat Administration hiked car parking charges in our district centres and now they are coming for one of the few remaining free car parks in our local area. We have to stand up to these reckless proposals. Not only could this encourage more parking on the surrounding streets but it risks hurting our local shops and businesses.

Under the Liberal Democrats, we pay the highest Council Tax in Greater Manchester - yet all we hear from them are plans to deliver less but charge us more."
