Julie Smith-Jones has been a Conservative activist for a number of years, standing for the Council in Cheadle & Gatley ward. In 2011, after tireless campaiging, she reduced the Liberal Democrat majority to 90 votes.
She has run her own business and is eager to use her skills to ensure that Stockport residents receive value for money from their Council Tax.
Julie is currently working with the Council and Police to curb illegal parking in and around Colwyn Rd at school start and finish times.
She is also leading a campaign to stop illegal parking by taxi drivers on Station Rd in the centre of Cheadle Hulme which is causing a traffic hazard.
Residents and shoppers on Turves Rd have asked Julie to help to get the condition of the pavements outside the shops improved. She is also working to get the Council to deal with traffic problems caused by a poorly sited bus stop by building a lay by.
