CONSERVATIVES DEMAND ACTION ON GRIDS & FLOODING

Flooding

One year on from taking control at the Town Hall, the Liberal Democrat-led Stockport Council have failed to get to grips with widespread drainage issues across the Borough.

Councillor Linda Holt and the local team have been fighting  for action since Bramhall witnessed devastating floods in 2016 & 2019.

Cllr Linda Holt recalls, "It was absolutely soul destroying to see the awful damge to residents' homes and local businesses at the time. This is why, last July, your Stockport Conservative team passed a vote at full Council committing the Liberal Democrat-led Stockport Council to launch a programme of work to clear and repair our drains, grids and gullies".

Following recent poor weather it is clear that Bramhall has again been left at extreme risk.

In February and March alone, roads leading towards Bramhall Green roundabout including Carrwood Road have been left extremely exposed with severe pooling of water caused by ineffective drainage.
Bramhall Park Tennis Club was badly affected by cars splashing  pooled water on Bramhall Park Road down on to one of their courts. These pools were again caused by ineffective drainage.
Peter and Linda from your local team met with a representative of the club to assess the damage.

Local Candidate

Peter Crossen stated, "The lack of action on grids and gullies causes a serious inconvenience to residents. This will only worsen over time, further damaging infrastructure, worsening flooding including flash flooding and pooling. We will not stand by and let that happen".
