Residents across Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Woodford are set to benefit from improved public transport links following the latest Bee Network announcement from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
The plans include:
- A new bus service connecting Stockport town centre directly to Woodford Garden Village
- Improvements to existing routes across the south of the borough, including enhanced connections to local schools
The changes are aimed at better supporting growing communities, improving access to education, and strengthening links between residential areas and the town centre.
Local ward councillor, Cllr Peter Crossen, has welcomed the announcement, highlighting that it follows ongoing engagement with transport leaders.
Last year, I met with executive members at Transport for Greater Manchester to make the case for improved bus services across Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Woodford. Residents have been clear that better connectivity is essential particularly with the growth we are seeing in areas like Woodford.
I’m really pleased to see a new service now being introduced linking Woodford Garden Village directly to Stockport town centre, alongside improvements to routes across the south of the borough.
Cllr Crossen added that while this represents real progress, he will continue campaigning for further improvements to local services.
This is a positive step forward, but I will continue to push for further improvements where they are needed most including making the case for the return of important routes such as the 307/308, which many residents still rely on and want to see reinstated.
The Bee Network aims to deliver a more integrated and reliable public transport system across Greater Manchester, with a growing focus on ensuring suburban and newly developed communities are properly connected.
Local Conservative campaigner Ste Mulvenna has been talking to residents in Woodford, and feels the introduction of a direct link to Stockport town centre is expected to significantly improve access to jobs, education, and key services.
Ste went on to say:
As our communities grow, it’s vital that infrastructure keeps pace. I’ll continue working with Cllr Crossen and TfGM to ensure Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Woodford get the transport links they need and deserve.
Further details, including routes and timetables, are expected to be released in due course.
