Stockport bins

We are aware that residents are continuing to report green bin collections being missed. We have received the following update from the council:

WEEKLY UPDATE: Stockport’s green bin collection continues to be impacted due to Covid-related staff shortages

For several weeks our green bin collection service has been impacted by staff shortages. This last week has seen an average of two rounds per day not being collected. This means that the majority of rounds are going out and no green bin should be left for more than two weeks.

If your green bin has been missed please check our website at https://www.stockport.gov.uk/bins to see when it will be collected.

It is still proving difficult to recruit staff from agencies due to shortages both locally and nationally, particularly with HGV drivers. However, with Covid infection rates in the borough falling and some staff returning to work, Totally Local Company (TLC) is working to ensure that the green bin collection returns to its normal frequency as soon as possible.

The Council and TLC would like to thank residents for their patience during this difficult time as well as the collection crews who have worked hard to maintain a service throughout this pandemic.

If your green bin is not collected for more than two weeks, please report this with the council using this link, and let your councillors or Conservative representative know.
