Faria has lived in Cheadle since 2006, and is married to Dr Naveed Khan, an ENT surgeon and Chair of the Cheadle West and Gatley Conservative Branch. They have two boys - Shahab and Musa - and a daughter, Rubab.
Faria has a masters in Healthcare Management (Policy and Planning) from Manchester Business School, she is a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and an honorary lecturer at the University of Manchester.
Faria chose her specialism in child and adolescent psychiatry after her son, Must, was diagnosed with autism and learning difficulties.
Among her other achievements, Faria set up the South Asian Autism Group in Lancashire to increase awareness of the condition in South Asian ethnic minorities, and has conducted training and awareness sessions for local communities. Her work was presented to the House of Commons, and in 2013 the Royal College of Psychiatrists nominated Faria as one of the best public educators of the year.
